Westport Writers’ Workshop, Avon

Westport Writers’ Workshop offers creative writing classes at the Farmington Valley Arts Center (25 Arts Center Lane, Avon), in memoir/personal essay and fiction. We also hold a generative class in which students respond to prompts on the spot. Our instructors are seasoned professional writers who emphasize “what’s working” in our students’ writing.

As a nonprofit literary arts center, Westport Writers’ Workshop has a commitment to the greater community. Our outreach program brings the power of the written word to underserved populations such as prisoners at Garner Correctional Facility in Newtown, mothers of special-needs children in Fairfield and inner-city youths in Stamford. In addition, we host readings, social events and talks that are free and open to the public.
