James Merrill Writer-in-Residence Program

The Merrill House Committee works to preserve James Merrill’s residence in Stonington CT as a tribute to him and a cultural asset to the local community. In this spirit, the Committee wishes writers-in-residence to be enriched by and also to enrich the community of Stonington.

In recognition of Merrill’s own contributions to the Stonington community and his longstanding generosity to fellow writers, the fellowship provides living and working space to a writer in search of a quiet setting to complete a project of literary or academic merit.
