Author Talk with Ruta Sepetys: “A Fortune of Sand”

Please join Fairfield Public Library as Ruta Sepetys, in conversation with Kathleen Carter, discusses her new book, A Fortune of Sand.  Refreshments will be provided by The Friends of Fairfield Public Library, and copies of the book will be available to purchase from Barrett Bookstore.

Set against the crumbling grandeur of 1920s Detroit and inspired by actual, long-buried historical events, A Fortune of Sand is a haunting mosaic of glamour and grift in a city built on ambition, as young Marjorie Lennox rejects her family’s powerful automotive dynasty to apply to an exclusive arts program.  When strange things begin happening in the program’s grand building, Marjorie begins to question herself and the fate of other women who don’t fit neatly into a gilded frame…
