Wyss, Robert

Bob Wyss is the author of three books, a freelance writer who has produced more than 100 articles in the last 15 years and a professor of journalism at the University of Connecticut. His most recent book, published in 2016, is The Man Who Built the Sierra Club, A Life of David Brower. The biography on Brower describes the transcendent figure of the environmentar movement in the 20th Century and his controversial tenure as the head of the Sierra Club in the 1950s and 1960s. Brower was a polarizing figure who galvanized the movement while alienating some of his closest allies. The Library Journal called it a riveting biography, Kirkus said it was well written and thorough. Wyss has also written Brimfield Rush, A Hunt for the Big Score, and a journalism textbook. He has been published in the New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, Huffington Post, Yankee and Audubon. Prior to coming to the University of Connecticut, Wyss was a reporter and editor for the Providence Journal.
