Dana Meachen Rau is an author, artist, and editor. Over her almost twenty years working as a freelancer, she has published more than 350 books for children in a variety of genres—early readers, picture books, historical fiction, biographies, cookbooks, and nonfiction on scientific, historical, geographical, and other popular topics.
She received her BA in Creative Writing and Art History from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier, Vermont, and currently teaches at the University of Hartford.
In addition to visiting schools and libraries as a visiting author and author-in-residence throughout New England and New York, she also presents lectures and workshops at writing and teaching conferences.
