Book/Mark This!

Book/Mark This! a celebration of Connecticut Grown literary activities were scheduled throughout Hartford in the fall of 2019. The Connecticut Center for the Book and its partners at the Connecticut Office of the Arts, Barnes & Noble, Hartford Public Library, University of Connecticut, and many others, brought out the following:

READI Talks with the Commission on the Arts. READI Talks are in-depth conversations with creative professionals held in intimate settings throughout Connecticut.

Connecticut Literary Festival: Its inaugural year was a resounding success. More than 500 people attended the festival held at Real Art Ways on October 5. The festival brought together readers, writers, thinkers, presses, and literary enthusiasts from every corner of Connecticut.

On October 16, 2019, the Mark Twain House and Museum and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center were dedicated as the two newest Connecticut Literary Landmark sites. Literary Landmarks is a program of United for Libraries and encourages the dedication of historic literary sites.

A new Connecticut Literary Tour was developed for the CT Humanities’ ConnTours app.

A Book Plates Exhibit was developed by the University of Connecticut’s at Storrs specialists in Special Collections and Archives.

Books on Pratt by Barnes & Noble on September 20 was a day-long opportunity to speak with Connecticut-based authors and purchase their books.

Hartford Public Library is hosted a Big Read in September and October and had many activities scheduled for the duration.

Connecticut Center for the Book was proud to coordinate these efforts and hopes to do so again in 2020!
