Janice Hechter is an award winning children’s book author/illustrator with a B.F.A. degree in Illustration from Carnegie Mellon University.

Janice has exhibited her art in numerous galleries and museums throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut and has illustrated six published picture books. Her debut as both author and illustrator of a picture book will be on May 10, 2021. The book is called Adventure Girl and features a girl named Dabi. On a special family visit to her grandparents in Israel, Dabi’s parents insist that she dress and act like a “little lady.” But when she finds a kindred curious spirit in her aunt, who takes her on a new adventure, Dabi makes more than one important discovery, including that it’s great to be true to herself.

Janice has been invited to many schools to guide students through the process of creating a children’s book.

She is an active member of SCBWI.
