  • Poet Laureate – Glastonbury

    Alexandrina Sergio is currently serving as Poet Laureate of Glastonbury, Connecticut, where she edits a monthly poetry column in the town newspaper and presents events featuring local poets and musicians.  She is author of two poetry collections, My Daughter Is Drummer in the Rock ’n Roll Band and That’s How The Light Gets In, both published by Antrim House. Her poems have received national and state awards and have been given multiple performances by the East Haddam Stage company.  Her work  has appeared in numerous journals, including Connecticut River Review, Caduceus, Kaleidoscope and Encore and in anthologies Love After 70; Double Lives, Reinvention and Those We Leave Behind; Cold Shoulders & Evil Eyes; Shifting Balance Sheets; Complex Allegiances and Siblings (Wising Up Press); and Visions, Voices and Verses (Exiles Press for New Britain Museum of American Art).  Sandy frequently performs her poetry, often accompanied by her husband, pianist David Sergio. Past reading venues include the Mystic Arts Center, Windsor Art Center, Yale and Wesleyan Book Stores, Julia deBurgos Park, The Buttonwood Tree, Manchester Community College, Gateway Community College, and a jubilance of churches, bars and libraries.
