The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library will host New York Times and USA Today bestselling thriller author Linda Fairstein. In what should promise to be an interesting evening, Ms. Fairstein will discuss her next highly anticipated crime novel, Blood Oath, the 20th book in her Alexandra Cooper series in which she expertly blends the two worlds she knows best: page-turning thrillers and prosecuting sex crimes. As former chief of the Sex Crimes Unit of the District Attorney’s office in Manhattan for more than two decades, Ms. Fairstein has worked to protect and advocate for women. During her tenure, she prosecuted controversial and highly publicized cases such as the “Preppy Murder Case” against Robert Chambers in 1986 and the “Central Park Five” in the “Central Park Jogger” case in 1990. She remains one of America’s foremost legal experts on sexual assault and domestic violence, and over the past year has made regular appearances on MSNBC, CNN, and other news outlets to comment on the Bill Cosby, Brett Kavanaugh, and Harvey Weinstein cases. She has also written about these and other breaking news for The Washington Post, The Daily News, among others.
