June 29, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Storyteller’s Cottage, 750 Hopmeadow St
Simsbury, CT 06070 United States
Young readers have short attention spans, which means only good storytellers need apply when it comes to taking on fact-based Young Adult Nonfiction projects!
Do you have a knack for translating complex information into story? Do you love biography? Have you ever tried your hand at writing projects-for-hire for major publishing houses, such as writing a volume in a book series?
Come work with a veteran nonfiction author, Mary Collins, who has written five adult nonfiction titles and five YA history titles, including Airborne: A Photobiography of Wilbur and Orville Wright (National Geographic Books), which was listed as a top 10 YA Biography by the New York Public Library. Mary worked for several decades in Washington, DC for National Geographic and the Smithsonian, and taught part-time at the Johns Hopkins University Writing Program for 12 years. She is currently the Program Coordinator for the Writing Minors at Central CT State University.
This workshop will assume most attendees have little to no experience in the genre but a real interest in exploring this vibrant book market.
